fine needle aspiration: A diagnostic technique that allows a doctor to take a biopsy of suspicious tissue.

human papilloma virus (HPV): A sexually transmitted disease that increases the risk of mouth cancer.

incisional biopsy: A biopsy where only a piece of the tissue in question is taken out for analysis, as opposed to an excisional biopsy that removes the entire area of concern.
